Preoccupation with these 8 Worldly Concerns can be such an enormous cause of struggle in our daily lives because they are mistaken to be an effective way to attain happiness and avoid suffering.
In this program we will review the Buddha's first teaching of the 4 Noble Truths as an overview and then explore these 8 Worldly Concerns as a means to experience more freedom and equanimity.
SCHEDULE & FORMAT:
Sessions take place via Zoom on Thursday mornings, 10:00-11:30 Eastern Time.
Janine will contact you with Zoom link and other pertinent information once you register.
In these weekly Thursday morning classes, we will delve into the 8 Worldly Concerns through meditation, contemplation, teaching, Q&A and discussion.
We will spend several weeks, March 11 through April 29, practicing with the 8 Worldly Concerns, spending time with each pair to explore how they impact our experience and daily lives.
The intent of the program is to augment meditation practice and to support our experiences "off the cushion." A few resources will be shared but the program is mostly contemplation and practice both on and off the cushion.
PROGRAM RESOURCES & SELF STUDY OPTION:
It is ideal to join the weekly sessions and community. However, if you are motivated you could do this as an "on demand" self-study type program.*
For those who register, you will have access to a private, password-protected page of the website where you will receive resources and practice suggestions. This will be a "closed" group to enhance focus and intimacy.
If you miss a session, you will have access to the recordings on the private page of the website. The meditations will be recorded separately for easy use and reference.
*And you could use this as a completely "at your own pace" self study program. You do not have to join the weekly live Zoom meeting (or even have a Zoom account) to still be able to access everything on the private, password-protected page of this website.
A percentage of the proceeds will be dedicated to the Tranquil Flame Scholarship Fund to help those with financial needs attend retreats and other events or programs.
All prices below include the Thursday morning classes and allow access to the private website page with resources and class recordings. Choose the "sliding scale" option which best aligns with you and your needs.
